- What do the different coloured checkboxes mean?
The different coloured checkboxes are tied directly to regular radio buttons. When JS is disabled, the radion buttons behind the scenes will be displayed so that the form can still be used with JS disabled.
- The blank checkbox means that the option is not used. (First checkbox with JS disabled)
- The coloured checkbox means that the server must have this option. (Second checkbox with JS disabled)
- The grey checkbox means that the server must not have this option. (Third checkbox with JS disbled)
- What do the letters in the rule column of the results table mean?
- V
- You can vote on this server.
- S
- You can select race conditions on this server.
- Q
- Qualifying is required on this server.
- P
- This server is private and requires a password.
- M
- This server is modified, usually using a tweak.
- J
- This server will allow you to join a race even though it has already started.
- T
- Racing on this server requires a mandatory pitstop.
- What is the 'L / H' column for?
The 'L / H' column is for laps / hours. It's contents can be deciphered as follows, where * is any number;
- *L
- This server is running races * laps in length.
- *H
- This server is running races * hours in length.
- U
- We can't determine the length of the races on this server.
- What is the little key next to some of the host names for?
This is an easy way for you to identify which hosts are private. The ones with a key are private, the ones without aren't.
- Where the hell did all of that jibberish under teh host name come from?
That is a list of racers currently on the server (LFSWorld user names)
- What are these "QA Filters" about?
"QA Filters" are quick ways to access filters you use frequently, without having to bookmark them.
- How can I add a "QA Filter"?
To add a quick access filter to your list, simply type the name you want it to be stored under in the text box in the "QA Filters" section of the filter form and click 'Search'. If you already have the filter form filled in, and want to add the current filter to your list, simply fill in a name and click 'Search'
- How do I rename or delete the "QA Filters"?
To delete filters, click the "Manage QA filters" link below the quick access dropdown box. Tick the boxes of the filters you wish to delete, and click "Delete".
To rename filters, select the ones you want to rename and click "Rename". Change the names as appropriate on the generated page, and click "Rename Filters".
- Where the hell did my "QA Filters" go?
At present, QA filters are only stored in a cookie. This means that you must have cookies enabled for them to work. It also means that if you purge all of your cookies (as history erasers do) your filters will be purged with them. It also means that they are not currently transferable across computers, or even between browsers on the same computer.
I'm working on some other features of the site that will require a login. When these are complete, you will be able to sign in and store your filters on the server so that they may be retrieved from any computer, but until then I'm afraid you'll have to make do.
- When I sort by the track results, why is it in a weird order?
AS2F sorts the tracks in the same order that they appear in the game, so it starts with the Blackwood tracks, and ends with the Aston tracks
- Can I sort the results?
Yes! Simply click the header of the column you want to sort the results by, and click it again if you want to reverse the order they are sorted in
- Can I join a host straight from the page?
Yes, but it requires that you install an additional application; LFSJoin. This application is not created, or supported by me. I'm simply providing it so that you can join hosts from this list.
It should be noted that this application has some flaws, the biggest of which is probably the fact that it does not accept unicode characters. Trying to join a host with unicode characters in the name will result in a crash. However, it also can't decipher URL-encoded hostnames, so there is no way of joining a host if it has a unicode extended character in the host name. It also will not work if the LFS master list server falls down.
Technical help
- I'm running IE and your forms are really slow. Whats wrong?
It is most likely caused by IE checking for updated versions of the images everytime they change. You can alter this behaviour by going to Tools->Internet Options, and clicking on the settings button on the 'Temporary Internet Files' section. From here, change the radio button that says 'Every visit to the page' to 'Every time you start Internet Explorer'.
This is based on IE6 on windows, and may be slightly different in other versions
- Your site looks screwed up or doesn't work!
It must be a really old browser, or on a platform I don't have access to. This site has been tested on the following browsers, and has been deemed to be usable;
- IE 5.5 - 6.0 Win
- Firefox 1.0.1 - 1.0.6
- Opera 8.00 (7.54 appears to work, but has inconsistent JS issues)
Anything older than those browsers listed don't work, and I don't plan on adding support for them either, so you can either upgrade your browser, or go without.
However, If you have a browser that is not listed, I'd like to hear from you about what works, and what doesn't. I've tried my best to support the browsers that I have access to, but you can't test something if you don't have it. You can reach me at ixulai (ta) gmail (tod) com.
- How does it work?
I could go in to great details, but It probably deserves a page of it's own. To cut a long story short, it uses LFSW-PPF to fetch some publicly available data provided by lfsworld.net. It then shoves it in to a database and manages to mangle up your input to become an SQL query. This SQL query is subsequently executed, the output formatted and compressed, then it is sent to your browser.
- What do the W3C images at the bottom of the page mean?
Those images mean we've actually put some effort in to this site! They represent the fact that this site has been created with standards and accessibility in mind, as all sites should be. For more information, click each one to find out what they mean
